Regenerative Tourism: A Story of Rebirth and Transformation

July 15, 2025 admin Regenerative Tourism

A STORY OF REBIRTH AND TRANSFORMATION

The origin of a dream

Deep in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, where the jungle breathes life and history whispers through its ancient trails, Teyuna Tours was born. Its name comes from the legendary Lost City, Teyuna, a sacred place for the indigenous peoples and an emblem of spiritual connection with nature. Teyuna is the exploration of origin, the return to our roots and the understanding of our bond with the land. Inspired by this meaning, a group of men and women decided to found a company with a purpose beyond conventional tourism: to transform lives and regenerate the territory.

Origin of Teyuna Tours

A path of hope and opportunity

What began as a shared dream soon became a path of hope and opportunity. Teyuna Tours not only opened the doors of the Sierra Nevada to the world, but also generated decent employment for guides, cooks, artisans and transporters from local communities. Many of them, previously without opportunities, found in tourism a way of life that respects and values their culture. The company became a bridge between travelers and ancestral guardians, where every visit is an exchange of knowledge and an act of recognition.

Regenerative tourism: beyond sustainability

At Teyuna Tours we understand that tourism should not be limited to not harming; it must actively contribute to restoring and revitalizing. That is why we adopt the regenerative tourism approach, which goes beyond sustainability. Our actions include:

  • Education and Awareness: Teyuna Tours guides not only accompany travelers on their journey, but also share knowledge about the importance of environmental conservation and respect for indigenous cultures.
  • Reforestation and Conservation: For each tour carried out, we allocate resources for the restoration of natural trails, mitigating the impact of tourism in the region, and supporting education and health projects for vulnerable communities.
  • Community Empowerment: We work closely with indigenous and peasant communities, providing employment opportunities and sustainable economic development, ensuring that the benefits of tourism reach directly those who have been guardians of this territory for centuries.

Today, Teyuna Tours is more than a tour operator: it is a movement that invites travelers from around the world to be part of a transformative experience, where every step on the mountain leaves a positive footprint. We invite you to walk with us and discover that traveling can also be an act of regeneration.
