Enjoy a unique experience in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta
The 3-day Lost City Trek is an intense and demanding experience, designed for travelers in excellent physical condition who want to reach this sacred site in the shortest possible time. In just three days you will traverse the dense jungle of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, cross rivers, see indigenous communities, and climb more than 1,200 steps to reach Teyuna, the ancient Tayrona city. It is an unforgettable adventure combining history, nature, and physical challenge.
DAY 1: Santa Marta – Mamey – Camp 1 – Camp 2 – Paraíso Teyuna (Camp 3)
Approximate time: Santa Marta – Mamey (3 hrs by vehicle); Mamey to Camp 1 (3 hrs). Camp 1 to Camp 2 (3 hrs). Camp 2 to Camp 3 “Paraíso Teyuna” (4 hrs).
Departure from Santa Marta at 4:00 a.m. in 4x4 vehicles to El Mamey. After breakfast in the village, the trek begins towards the first camp “Adán” or “Alfredo” (or we can do this stretch by motorcycle up to the motorcycle drop-off point 35 minutes before the first camp), passing through the Mirador de las Tres Cruces and bathing areas in rivers and natural pools.
After lunch, continue walking to Wiwa Lodge or Múmake (Camp 2) and, after a short rest, resume the path bordering the indigenous village of Mutanyi until reaching Camp 3: “Paraíso Teyuna” or “Paso de Lorenzo”, where you will spend the night.
Camp 3: Bathrooms, showers, generator electricity (6:00–9:00 p.m.).
DAY 2: Lost City – Camp 2
Approximate time: Camp 3 to Lost City (1 hr); Archaeological Park tour (3 hrs); Camp 3 to Camp 2 (4 hrs).
After breakfast, begin the ascent up 1,200 steps to the mythical Lost City. There, the local guide will lead a tour through the terraces, paths, and sacred structures of the Tayrona civilization, framed by the Sierra Nevada jungle.
After the visit, return to Camp 3 for lunch and then hike back to Camp 2 (Wiwa Lodge or Múmake), where you will spend the night.
Camp 2: Electricity, bathrooms, and showers (limited).
DAY 3: Camp 2 – El Mamey – Santa Marta
Approximate time: Camp 2 to El Mamey (6 hrs)
After breakfast, hike 2 hours to the first camp (Adán or Alfredo), where you take a short break. Continue for another 4 hours to El Mamey, where you will have lunch before boarding the vehicle back to Santa Marta.
An ancestral journey to the heart of the Tayrona civilization
As Santa Marta awakens to the murmur of the waves and the whisper of the Sierra Nevada, an experience begins that goes beyond tourism: a reconnection with the sacred, with history, with the mysticism of the mountain. Lost City, the ancient ceremonial center of the Tayronas, awaits you on a four-day journey through jungles, rivers, and ancestral wisdom.
DAY 1 | Santa Marta – Mamey – Camp 1
Estimated time: 3 hours by vehicle / 4 hours hiking (7.6 km)
We pick you up at your accommodation or meet at our office in Santa Marta to depart in a 4x4 vehicle to the village of El Mamey, where we will have lunch before starting our hike. The trail takes us through living mountains, crossing streams and surrounded by exuberant nature.
We stop at the Mirador de las Tres Cruces to recharge with fresh fruit, and continue until we reach Camp 1 (“Adán” or “Alfredo”) where we will rest. If weather permits, we can enjoy natural pools near camp 1.
We end the day with a hot dinner and rest in a hammock or bed with mosquito net.

DAY 2 | Camp 1 – Mutanyi – Camp 3
Estimated time: 3 hours to Camp 2 / 20 min to Mutanyi / 5 hours to Camp 3
The day begins with breakfast and a new stretch towards Camp 2. There, a refreshing swim in the Buritaca River awaits us, followed by a well-deserved lunch.
After resting, we resume the hike through the indigenous Kogui village of Mutanyi, where the spirituality of its inhabitants is palpable. We continue to Camp 3, “Paraíso Teyuna”, at the foot of the sacred mountain.
Camp 3 Facilities: Bathrooms, showers, and generator electricity (6 p.m. to 9 p.m.).
DAY 3 | Lost City – Return to Camp 2
Estimated time: 1 hour ascent / 3 hours archaeological tour / 4 hours return hike
Very early, after breakfast, we begin the ascent up 1,200 stone steps that lead us to Teyuna, the mythical Lost City.
There, among circular terraces, hidden paths, and ancient walls, we experience a connection with the deepest part of the soul.
History comes alive in this place, amidst mist and absolute greenery. The guide will lead us through three hours of history, mysticism, and contemplation.
After the tour, we return to Camp 3 for lunch, and then descend to Camp 2, where we will spend the night.
Camp 2 Facilities: Electricity (limited), bathrooms, and showers.
DAY 4 | Return to Mamey – Santa Marta
Estimated time: 6 hours hiking
After breakfast, we prepare for the final day. We hike two hours to Camp 1, where we take a break and enjoy fresh fruit. Then we continue descending for approximately four hours to El Mamey.
There, the final lunch awaits us before boarding the vehicle that will take us back to Santa Marta.

An ancestral journey to the heart of the Tayrona civilization
Over 5 days you will travel through the majestic Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta on a journey to the ancestral Lost City. Hikes through the tropical jungle, swims in rivers and waterfalls, ancestral knowledge, and a visit to the Teyuna archaeological site are all part of this unique experience. Each day is designed to experience nature, culture, and history on one of Colombia's most special routes.
DAY 1 | Santa Marta – El Mamey – Camp 1
Approximate duration: 3 hours by vehicle / 4 hours hiking. Estimated distance: 7.6 km
The tour begins when we pick you up at your accommodation or when you arrive at our office in Santa Marta. From there, we travel by 4x4 vehicles for 3 hours to the village of El Mamey, the starting point of the hike.
We begin the trek on a trail through the tropical jungle. Halfway, we stop at the Mirador de las Tres Cruces to enjoy fresh fruit and a privileged view of the landscape. We continue to Camp 1 (Adán or Alfredo) where we will spend the night.
Along the way, we will have the opportunity to swim in natural pools that the Sierra Nevada offers.

DAY 2 | Camp 1 – Camp 2 – Paraíso Teyuna
Approximate duration: 3 hours to Camp 2 / 5 hours to Camp 3
After breakfast, we resume the hike towards Camp 2, where we can take a refreshing swim in the Buritaca River before enjoying lunch.
Then we continue the ascent, bordering the indigenous Kogui village of Mutanyi, until we reach Camp 3 (Paraíso Teyuna), the closest point to the Lost City. This will be our second night in the mountains.

📍 DAY 3 | Lost City – Camp 2
Approximate duration: 1 hour ascent / 3 hours at Lost City / 4 hours return
Very early, we ascend 1,200 stone steps to reach the Lost City (Teyuna), the ancient spiritual capital of the Tayrona people. Here we explore terraces, sacred paths, and ceremonial places surrounded by jungle, history, and spirituality.
During the tour, it is possible to see the mamo, the spiritual leader and guardian of the territory. After the tour, we return to Camp 3 for lunch and continue to Camp 2, where we spend the night.

DAY 4 | Camp 2 – Waterfall Camp
Approximate duration: 5 hours hiking
We leave after breakfast to begin a day of return with a variation in the route. We cross the Buritaca River by cable car and follow a path with crossings to Pablo Waterfall, where we can cool off.
Further on, we cross streams and arrive at El Abanico Waterfall, very close to the Waterfall Camp, where we will have lunch and spend the afternoon. There we can learn about traditional crops (yucca, malanga, banana) and visit Tina Waterfall, just 5 minutes from the accommodation.

DAY 5 | Waterfall Camp – El Mamey – Santa Marta
Approximate duration: 4.5 hours hiking / 3 hours by vehicle
After breakfast, we begin the final stretch of the route passing through Fredy's Lodge and then Bridge Lodge, until we reconnect with the original trail from day 1.
The hike ends in Mamey, where we will have lunch before boarding the vehicle back to Santa Marta.
⚠️ Important note: During days 4 and 5, the itinerary may be adjusted according to weather conditions, the group's physical condition, or the guide's decisions. In some cases, we may hike more on day 4 (to Fredy's Lodge or Bridge Lodge) and shorten the last day's journey.

The 6-day Lost City Trek is an experience designed for those who want to enjoy the route more calmly and connect deeply with the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. You will have more time to rest, bathe in waterfalls and rivers, share with peasant communities, and fully discover the natural and cultural heritage of the territory. Each day combines adventure, history, and unique landscapes, culminating in the magical encounter with Teyuna, the Lost City of the ancient Tayrona.
DAY 1: Santa Marta – Mamey – Camp 1
Approximate time: Santa Marta – Mamey (3 hrs by vehicle); Mamey to Camp 1 (4 hrs)
Departure from Santa Marta to El Mamey in a 4x4 vehicle. Lunch in Mamey and start of the trek to the Adán or Alfredo lodge. Along the way, you will enjoy refreshing swims in natural pools.
Camp 1: Electricity, bathrooms, and showers.
DAY 2: Camp 1 – Camp 2 – Mutanyi
Approximate time: Camp 1 to Camp 2 (3 hrs). Camp 2 to Mutanyi (20 min.)
After breakfast, hike to camp 2. Time to swim in the Buritaca River and have lunch. In the afternoon, a panoramic visit to the indigenous Kogui village of Mutanyi.
Camp 2: Bathrooms, showers, and electricity (6:00–9:00 p.m.).
DAY 3: Camp 2 – Paraíso Teyuna (Camp 3)
Approximate time: Camp 2 to Camp 3 (5 hrs)
Departure to the third camp located on the banks of the Buritaca River. Free afternoon to rest and prepare for the visit to the Lost City.
Camp 3: Bathrooms, showers, and electricity (6:00–9:00 p.m.).
DAY 4: Camp 3 – Lost City – Camp 2
Approximate time: Camp 3 to Lost City (1 hr); Archaeological Park tour (3 hrs); Camp 3 to Camp 2 (4 hrs).
Visit to the Lost City climbing 1,200 steps. Exploration of the archaeological park with a local guide. Lunch at Paraíso Teyuna and return hike to Camp 2.
Camp 2: Electricity, bathrooms, and showers (limited).
DAY 5: Camp 2 – Buritaca Waterfalls
Approximate time: Camp 2 to Waterfall Camp (5 hrs)
From Camp 2 we take a detour to cross the river by cable car. Visit three waterfalls: Pablo, El Abanico, and Tina. Afternoon to explore local crops and rest.
Waterfall Camp: Electricity (6:00–9:00 p.m.), bathrooms, and showers.
DAY 6: Waterfall Camp – El Mamey – Santa Marta
Approximate time: Waterfall Camp – El Mamey (4.5 hrs)
Return hike passing through Fredy's Lodge and Bridge Lodge. Arrival at Mamey for lunch and transfer by 4x4 vehicle to Santa Marta.
Note: Days 5 and 6 may be adjusted depending on weather, group physical condition, or the guide's decision. In some cases, you may stay at intermediate lodges and finish the route from there the next day.
