Teyuna: The Heart of the Sierra

Lost City, known as Teyuna by indigenous peoples, was founded around 800 AD, being one of the main urban centers of the Tayrona civilization. Discovered in 1972, this stone city extends over 35 hectares in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

  • More than 200 circular stone structures
  • 650 years older than Machu Picchu
  • Located at 1,200 meters above sea level

The route to Teyuna crosses one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet, where you can find:

  • Cloud forest and tropical jungle
  • 400 bird species and 100 mammal species
  • Crystal-clear waterfalls and mountain rivers

For the Kogui, Wiwa, Arhuaco and Kankuamo peoples, Teyuna remains a sacred site:
